LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Centra has confirmed its first COVID-19 positive case.
Centra said the patient is being treated in a negative pressure, isolation room at Lynchburg General Hospital. They said the patient is in his early 60s and is in critical condition.
"Centra has been actively preparing for patients with COVID-19, and we have been working closely with our local health department and the CDC," Centra said in a statement. "This case has been reported to the Virginia Department of Health, and an investigation is underway."
They said they are following all of the recommendations in caring for the patient and protecting the safety of other patients, caregivers, and community.
They said the patient was screened and tested using their COVID-19 protocol.
Additionally, two other patients in and around their service area have tested positive over the last 24 hours. None required care at a Centra facility and are in quarantine at home.
