LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The Lynchburg Health Department is holding a press conference Thursday to address the alert sent to the J.Crew Distribution Center employees in Forest Wednesday about a coworker testing 'preliminary positive' for COVID-19.
Multiple employees at the J.Crew distribution center in Forest said they got the alert overnight Wednesday telling them not to come to work that day.
Dr. Kerry Gateley, the Virginia Department of Health Director of the Central Virginia Health District, said there are no presumptive positive cases in the area. Any case is required to be sent to the VDH, and this case was not sent to them, which is very concerning.
Dr. Gateley said there were misunderstandings and miscommunications that led to J.Crew sending out the alert.
