Today's Forecast

Today's Forecast Image
  • High
  • Low

Despite all the sunshine, there will be little movement in temperatures this afternoon. Readings in the low 20s for the mountains, mid 20s in Central VA, and lower 30s across the Southside will be common. Gusty Northwest winds at 10-20mph will make for wind chill readings in the teens and single digits (mountains) this afternoon.

The breeze backs off tonight and temperatures will plummet as the arctic high sets up directly over us.  As a result, air temperature readings Wednesday morning will be even colder than they were today, however there will not be as much of a wind chill.

Still cold with flurries possible and highs in the 30s Wednesday and Thursday. At this time, a wintry mix is looking likely for Friday, and travel may be affected Friday afternoon and evening. Behind this system, a reinforcing shot of cold air ensures that the chill sticks around into this weekend.
