WATCH: Prince William Shares Surprise Update On Kate Middleton, Children

Prince William stopped to chat with a few "well-wishers" during his latest royal engagement at James’ Place in Newcastle on Tuesday (April 30), revealing new information about the wellbeing of his wife and children.

The Prince of Wales visited northeast England to meet with 2022 Earthshot Prize finalist Low Carbon Materials and mental health organization James' Place, and made time to chat with a few locals between events. A women on the street, wrapped in a Union Jack, stopped the Prince to ask how his family was, politely inquiring: "Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are, obviously Catherine?"

For context, Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton, was diagnosed with stomach cancer following an abdominal surgery that took place at a private hospital in London in January 2024.

The Princess of Wales announced her diagnosis in a video shared to a royal X account in March, assuring that she is doing her best to heal and would like privacy as she navigates this time with her family.

The loving father-of-three kindly replied to the concerned woman, promising that his family was "doing well, thank you!" The Prince of Wales also talked with a few children and inquired about their birthdays. One little boy told the Prince a tale of a birthday party without a cake, to which the beloved royal assured that next year, if he asks for a cake nicely, it will be very important that he gets one!

Per People, this was the Prince of Wales' third public appearance since his wife revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world, and the first time he spoke about his family's health. Newcastle residents were very impressed with Prince William's visit, mentioning that it was very nice of him to "stop by and have a chat" will all the locals on the street that were anticipating his arrival.
