BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — A woman in her 60s is recovering after falling Wednesday afternoon about 30 feet from Bedford County's Sharp Top Mountain, in a section called Buzzards Roost, according to officials.

In addition to bumps and bruises, it appeared she might have broken her clavicle bone, according to Matthew Scott, deputy chief of operations with the Bedford Fire Department.

Scott said she was alert when rescuers arrived, and the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

She was taken by helicopter to a hospital. Rescuers were called for the rescue at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

It's the second severe fall in the region within the past week.

A man from the Netherlands died after falling dozens of feet from McAfee Knob in Roanoke County.
