NWS Confirms EF-2 Tornado in Bedford County on Friday

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-2 touched down in Bedford County on Friday morning.

The tornado struck the Crockett Road area of Goode around 7:25 Friday morning.

Several residential neighborhoods suffered catastrophic structural damage, county officials say.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) assessed 50 structures in that area and says 35 structures received varying levels of damage. Of those, 15 were residences, and three were destroyed.

VDEM and other agencies worked to capture the extent of the damage. The total affected area is about 2.9 miles.
