Support the Troops Rally Marks 1000th Week at Monument Terrace This Friday

A weekly noontime rally at Lynchburg's Monument Terrace in support of U.S. military troops marks its 1000th straight week this Friday, Jan. 29.

The event will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm and will include speakers, presentations, a House Resolution by State Delegate Wendell Walker, and the reading of the names of the 95 veterans who once stood with the rally on Church Street and have passed on in the nearly 20 years the rally has been held.

Also on display will be a Bedford County Sheriff's Office car wrap of the 14 Soldiers and Marines from the Lynchburg area who died in the War on Terror.

The troop rally started on November 30, 2001.
