Coronavirus Cases in Va. Over 32,000 with 1,041 Deaths as Phase 1 Continues

RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) -- The new numbers released by the Virginia Department of Health Tuesday, May 19 show an increase of 1,005 cases from Monday as the state continues to move forward in Phase One of Governor Ralph Northam's 'Forward Virginia' plan.

The VDH is reporting a total of 32,145 COVID-19 cases in the state; 30,539 are confirmed and 1,606 are probable.

The number of deaths reported is 1,041, an increase of 27 from Monday.

The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association dashboard on Tuesday reports that there are 1,024 confirmed positive COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Virginia and 473 patients are hospitalized waiting for their test results.

Of those numbers, 377 patients are in the ICU, and 199 patients are on a ventilator.

The VHHA reports that 4,271 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized and discharged.
