GFTW Collecting Monetary Donations for Mississippi Tornadoes

Gleaning Responds to Easter 2020 Tornadoes: Collections look different because of COVID-19

More than 100 tornadoes hit the U.S. on April 12-13, including a powerful F-4 in rural Moss, Mississippi which destroyed or damaged more than 400 homes.

Gleaning For The World is collecting for the tornado victims, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, their collection is a little different this time. Instead of setting up at their usual spot to collect products and supplies, GFTW is looking for monetary donations only.

With the money raised, GFTW will purchase the needed supplies to take to Mississippi to be distributed to those in need.

To make a monetary donation, visit GFTW.org to donate online. Or mail a donation check to GFTW, PO Box 645 Concord, VA 24538. To give by phone, simply text “Tornado” to 1-434-208-1878.

“We want to help as many people as we can,” Jeane Smiley-Mason, president of Gleaning For The World said, explaining that the organization will start by sending their first truckload of disaster relief supplies to Moss, MS, and will continue wherever the need is, for as long as resources are available.

"Your generosity will be a blessing to those who are facing the most devastating time of their lives. They’ve been hit by two disasters at the same time: Covid-19 and these devastating storms," Smiley-Mason said.
