Written at a time of increasing deafness and personal turmoil for the great composer, this symphony expresses the capacity of the human spirit to overcome adversity. From the opening four-note “fate” motif, to the blazingly triumphant finale, Beethoven takes us on one of the most memorable musical journeys ever created.
