Homeless man arrested after bringing a gun into City Hall to use restroom

A homeless man has been barred from all city buildings after bringing a gun bag into City Hall.

The Lynchburg Police Department said they were called to City Hall Wednesday morning on Church Street for a report of a man in the restroom with a gun bag.

After questioning him, police said they determined 52-year-old Luther Scott is homeless and entered City Hall to use the restroom.

Scott was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

"The Lynchburg Police Department is ensuring the safety of all city employees and buildings after an arrest outside City Hall [Wednesday] morning," they wrote on Facebook

They then barred him from all city buildings.

Scott is being held at the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center without bond.
