Some fans of the late R&B singer Aaliyah are taking a stand against an upcoming Lifetime biopic based on her life.
A petition started on iPetitions.com is calling for filmmakers to halt production of the tentatively titled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B. The petition blasts filmmakers for reportedly not including Aaliyah's family in the making of the film, calling the move "beyond disrespectful."
Since plans for the film were announced on Monday, the petition has already garnered more than 1,000 signatures.
Aaliyah passed away in 2001 in a plane crash in The Bahamas. She was 22-years-old.
Disney Channel star and "Dancing With The Stars" season 16 runner-up Zendaya Coleman will take on the role of Aaliyah. The film is slated to arrive sometime this fall.
