A pair of con artists were busted for swindling sports fans with fake Super Bowl tickets. The criminals, Damon Daniels of the Bronx and Eugene Fladger of Philadelphia, were nabbed in a sting after selling the dupes to undercover cops. Apparently the tickets were of such good quality, they’d allow fans to gain entry to the stadium (of course, fake ticket-holders would be in for a surprise when they found real ticket-holders in their seats). The crooks were also selling fake parking passes and tickets to Super-Bowl-related events. But tickets aren’t the only scam to beware of leading up to the big game- authorities are also warning consumers not to get tricked into purchasing counterfeit merchandise. Fake NFL goods pop up every year, and can be tough to distinguish from the real, licensed stuff. Experts recommend keeping an eye out for ripped tags, sloppy stitching and typos.
